Figuring it out

Relevant Learning Blog#1: Figuring it out

Working as an associate at TechBuddy Consulting, which deals in making learning relevant for the students and inculcating the habit of self-learning in them, I read a lot of blogs and watched a lot of videos on “Relevant Learning” over last couple of weeks. These lead to some thoughts, so here I express them...

LIFE is for “(L)earning your (I)nterests to (F)eel (E)nriched”.

From the very early stage in life we start learning. From speaking to walking to riding a bicycle to learning manners and various other things. But WHY did we learn all these??? The answer to this question is out of eagerness/interest. We speak out of our interest to communicate with others. If you recall the scene where the parents try to make their children learn how to walk, they stand a few steps away from their baby and ask him to come towards them, so its the interest of the baby to be able to travel to his loved ones that makes him learn walking. Similarly we learn bicycle to feel the speed & the excitement of the ride. So mainly our interests used to drive our learnings. Then comes a stage where we learn because we have to learn, we don't really care much, we are kids. Then we come to high school, where we start thinking about being successful in life. From now on, our learnings are mostly driven by the probability of success. Moving on in life, in most cases, Success == a well paying & secure job. So now we learn about things which will give us a job.

But...

System error!”

We are programmed to learn about the things of our interests. We should learn the things we will be willing to learn & apply even when isolated from the whole world.

I have seen many people around, who are just pretending to learn things so that their profiles look employable. For eg. people are learning a foreign language just beacuse it looks good on their resume. They don't realise what is the point of getting a certificate in something which if asked to do you would never want to do. I think somebody need to strike to a bong near the ears of these people. TANGG!!!

  2. Nicely written..just a random thought - Thinking about success is not a bad thing, only if your learning is honest & done with 100% commitment.
